Opera NB Young Artist Recital Series. Carol Léger will present a solo recital accompanied by Nhat-Viet Phi on piano. Her program will include works by Strauss, Handel, Schubert, Puccini, Barber, Berg, Floyd, Delibes, Massenet, and Satie. The Fairy Queen - A Baroque Opera
The New Brunswick Early Music Festiva (NewBEMF) directed by Dr. Daniel Carberg and Matthew Leese will present Henry Purcell’s Baroque Opera The Fairy Queen. This "Restoration spectacular,” first performed in 1692, is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's wedding comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream. The Opera will feature 17 soloists from Millikin University’s School of Music (Decatur, Illinois) and a baroque orchestra with musicians specializing in early music performance from the US and Canada. Sing IT features classical vocal instruction for students between the ages of 8 and 18, and is intended for anyone who enjoys singing. Director Christopher Lane (Executive Director of Opera New Brunswick, performer, choir director, organist and teacher) is joined by accomplished performer/instructors Theresa Patterson and Terri-Lynn Russell. Young singers will receive individual and ensemble training as well as work on expression and characterization.
Cost: $250
Classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, with drop off available from 8:15 a.m. and pickup until 5:30 p.m. There's still time to register!

A camp designed with the young singer in mind! If you've ever sung in a choir, or would like to try - now is your chance to shine! We'll learn new songs every day, and record a souvenir CD to give to family and friends at the end of the week!
1/2 camps cost $100 and include a t-shirt, snack and all materials.
Full Day (Older Young Company) camp cost $180 and includes a t-shirt, snack, lunch and all materials. A non-refundable $50 registration fee is due at the time of registration.

UNB SUMMER MUSIC CAMPS
August 13-21, 2010
UNB Music Camp is dedicated to furthering the experience and growth of music students from New Brunswick and beyond. UNB Music Camp offers instruction in string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, as well as piano and guitar. Vocalists also have the opportunity to take part in the camp’s excellent choral program, and require no prior musical training. Students are given the opportunity to perform in concerts as well as experience performances by their teachers. Final student concerts will take place on Saturday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.
