NBCF National Youth 2008 Representatives

 

Angelyn McNeil of Fredericton (formerly Blackville) is an accomplished soprano with a solid background as a soloist and ensemble member. She sang for seven years as a first soprano in the Blackville School Girls' Choir and won numerous awards at the Miramichi Rotary Music Festival. Since moving to Fredericton to pursue a business degree at the University of New Brunswick, she has been taking voice lessons from Amber Bishop and has performed regularly in the community, including with Christmas at the Playhouse.

 

April Boudreau of Memramcook will be singing alto. A biochemistry student at l'Université de Moncton, she sang as a second soprano in Les Jeunes Chanteurs d'Acadie, under the direction of Sr. Lorette Gallant and Nadine Hébert, for seven years and has been taking voice lessons from Monette Gould for five years. She has performed widely as a soloist and chorister with Les Jeunes Chanteurs in Moncton and throughout Canada, as well as overseas.

 

 

Tenor Shawn Potter is a second-year music student at Mount Allison University in Sackville, where he studies organ and harpsichord, and is a member of the chamber choir the Elliott Chorale. Originally from Newport, Nova Scotia, he is a member of the Nova Scotia Youth Choir and the Symphony Nova Scotia Chorus. He has received many awards and scholarships (including a Loran Award: <http://www.loranaward.ca>) and is president of the Mount Allison Music Society and accompanist for the Mount Allison Choral Society.

 

Bass Alexander Clark of Riverview is working on his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of PEI, majoring in voice with a minor in math. A former trombone section leader with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra and the Mount Allison Symphonic Band, as well as first trombone in the Canadian National Youth Band, he switched to voice two years ago after an injury prevented him from continuing with the trombone. He was featured as a soloist for the UPEI Concert Choir's performance of Haydn's The Creation and will be the bass soloist in its upcoming performance of Mozart's Coronation Mass. He also sings in the UPEI Chamber Singers, under the direction of Sung-Ha Shin-Bouey, and his voice teacher is Stephen Bouey.
